Study Destination or Location.

Where will you like to study? Europe, Africa, or Asia? Before you decide on your study destination, you may want to ask yourself these few questions:

      1. Why are you choosing this particular country as your study destination? Is it because you love the environment? Knowing the specific reason as to why you are choosing your desired study destination when planning to study abroad can help you narrow down your search.

       2. Distance. How far is the country you want to go to? With the invention of aircraft, no place on Earth is far. However, the distance the aircraft will cover may determine traveling expenses if you will like to visit your home country regularly particularly during breaks and holidays. If this is a priority for you, you may want to consider choosing a closer study destination.

       3. The weather: Some parts of the world are far colder than other parts. Some others are warmer than others. You know your body type. Can you easily adapt to the weather of the country you want to study in? Ask questions from people who are living there and inquire about the weather and how they cope with it.

      4. The culture and people: Are the citizens peaceful and friendly? Do you like their culture and way of life? Remember, you will be living there for the next few years at the very least and will have to interact with them.

      5. Their laws: Every country has unique laws that guide them. Have you looked at the laws of that country? Are you comfortable with it? Can you abide by it?

How are the social activities of the school you want to attend like? Make findings of your desired study destination social activities and see if you will love to study there.

Course of Study

Every institution has its uniqueness and peculiarities. How available is your course of study and choice area of specialization? The reason an institution may be either better for you or not so good can be because of your desired course of study. Some institutions have very solid departments while some other departments are yet to be accredited. What is your course of study? Does your desired institution offer that particular course? Check out your institution's course content and module. Is that course accredited in the school? Having this information can help guide you in deciding on your choice of the institution when looking to study abroad.

Financial Cost of Study

Do you have a budget on how much you intend to spend on your education? How do you plan on sponsoring your education to study abroad? Will your parents or guardian be responsible for funding? Are will you fund yourself? Some institutions are more expensive than others. Some study destinations give out education for free. However, you will need money to show that you can take care of yourself when you get there and you won’t be stranded.

Check each institution’s cost of tuition fees, accommodation, living expenses in the country where the institution is located, and so on. This will help you filter the more expensive ones if you are on a budget.

Program of Study.

Are you going for your undergraduate, postgraduate, online study, high school program, vocational course, or short course? Your program of study is a major factor to consider while deciding the institution to choose when looking to study abroad. Some institutions do not offer online study programs while other institutions offer.

School Ratings

Some people may not think this is important but it is important when you need to use your certificate for employment. What is the quality and standard of the institution you are going to? Are there major achievements awarded to the school? Some schools are far more recognized than others due to reasons such as achievements, quality, and standards.

Accommodation

Language

Although there are popular languages such as English or French used to teach in many parts of the world today. However, language can still be a barrier to your desired study destination if you are unfamiliar with the language that you will be taught. For instance, if you are from a French-speaking country and you will like to study in England, you will either have to learn the English language or choose another institution.
