UNILAG VC Summons Sexual Harassment Victim

Following the alleged sexual harassment case against Professor Olusegun Awonusi the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe has summon the victim to surface.

The VC says investigations into alleged sexual harassment against a lecturer may not be conceivable if the victim neglects to appear. 

The VC said the female student that accused the lecturer of sexually harassing her must appear in order to proceed with the investigation by the schools (UNILAG) investigative team for a fair process. The alleged victim must show up in order to conclude the investigation.

For investigations to continue smoothly, it shouldn’t be based on a one sided note but rather on both sides says the VC. He furthered to say that the University of Lagos has a standing policy on such issue and would not compromise the investigation in any way and that UNILAG’s policy on ground concerning issues relating to the behavior of our students, lecturer to lecturer and lecturer to students; and the policy on ground would be appropriately executed. "When you discuss scholarly debasement, it is a worldwide issue, yet the strategies to address it too is likewise on ground. 

"Anyone that is discovered at fault will be dealt with through the set down strategies," he said.

Academic corruption is a global issue likewise the strategies to address it so any culprit found will be dealt with accordingly, said Professor Olusegun Awonusi
