Higher Education Ministry Signs MOU with Liverpool University

The MoU signed by Higher Education Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and President of Universities UK and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool Professor Dame Janet Beer was to boost scientific cooperation between the Higher Education Ministry and the British University of Liverpool as stated by Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli when he witnessed the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MoU). He furthered to state that the MoU aims to develop the strategic partnership between the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Liverpool University through joint innovation and activities and through the establishment of advanced educational initiatives that benefit students and teachers, for his part, the minister of higher education confirmed that Egypt has a human resource of scientists, researchers and innovators, in addition to many institutions and distinguished research bodies such as Zewail city and the Nile University. 

Professor Dame Janet Beer, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool affirmed the university’s keenness to cooperate with Egyptian universities and research centers in providing support in all areas in the higher education and scientific research field to develop education and support international research initiatives. The Prime Minister emphasized on the government's keenness on completing a national education development mechanism that covers both university education and scientific research. The prime minister after welcoming the delegation stated that the meeting was a good platform in expanding the cooperation between Egyptian and British universities in the higher education and scientific research domains and furthered that Egypt is a country that supports all forms of cooperation between Egyptian and foreign universities in the domains of educational and scientific research and that UK universities are welcomed to open subsidiaries in Egypt. The delegation expressed interest in establishing a viable partnership between UK and Egyptian universities to enhance cooperation in higher education and scientific research domains. The visiting of several government and private-owned universities in Egypt as well as research centers was not left out of the delegate’s schedule. 

The University of Liverpool which is among the top 200 universities worldwide according to rankings, is one of UK’s leading research-intensive higher education institutions is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of the UK’s leading research universities, and has a global reach and influence that reflects its academic heritage as one of the UK’s largest civic institutions.

Mr. Mohamed Othman Elkhosht, President of Cairo University added that the visit by the delegation to the school certainly boost scientific and academic relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom.
